Roleplayer Information
What name, OOC, do you like to be known as?: Sue
Age: 36
Existing characters: None here.
Character Information:
First Name: Magdalene
Middle Name: Augustine
Last Name: d'Evreux
Status: (Peasant, guard, official title etc.): Sister of the Order of the Daughters of Charity.
Place of Birth: Rouen, France
Current Age: 34
Date of Birth: December 18, 1160
Parents: Bertrade (deceased) and Amicie d'Evreux.
Siblings: Guillaume (m) 36yrs, Simon (m) 33 yrs, Melisende (f) 29 yrs.
Current place of residency: The Priory House and Infirmary, Nottingham. (A charitable institution, run by the Order to dispense medicine and food to the poor and sick of Nottingham and the surrounding villages).
Support and why: ( Does your character support the King? The Sheriff? Or are they undecided? Why?) Neither, Sister Magdalene champions the poor, sick and downstrodden who cannot speak or fend for themselves. She feels that the people of Britain wouldn't be in this state if King Richard hadn't taxed them to fund his war in the Holy Land, and if the King hadn't left for the Crusades then greedy, grasping men like the Sheriff wouldn't now be in positions of power.
Personality: Mags is a good, honest woman. She's not vain or greedy, and always considers the needs of others before her own. Level headed, especially during a crisis, Magdalene is the voice of reason that always prevails. She is a strong, resilient character who considers the implications before speaking her mind. Formidable also springs to mind when describing Sister Mags.
Life Story: Magdalene d'Evreux was the second child of four born to Bertrade and Amicie d'Evreux, minor Norman nobility, in Rouen, France. Her childhood was pretty uneventful. She received some schooling but was never a great scholar like her older brother, Guillaume. Her mother, Amicie, took Magdalene under her wing and taught her how to run a household, from brewing beer to embroidery, from supervising the servants to making her own bread.
Magdalene was 15 years old when Rouen was gripped by the plague. Bertrade succumbed to the disease but, during his illness, he received medical help from the Order of the Daughters of Charity. Magdalene was quietly impressed by the dedication and efficiency of the Sisters. Her curiosity was engaged and, after great deliberation on her part, Magdalene felt she'd found her vocation. At first, her widowed mother was against her daughter taking Orders but, after much debate with Guillaume and Simon, she finally relinquished and Magdalene joined the Abbey at Rouen as a postulant.
After six years of hard work, study and worship, Magdalene took her solemn vows and officially became a Sister of the Order. During her years at the Abbey, Magdalene showed a proficiency for working with herbs and healing. This skill meant that she worked more often than not in the Infirmary, dispensing medicines to the sick and needy.
After 15 years in Rouen, Magdalene began to feel restless. With her Mother Superior's blessing, she crossed the Channel to England and joined the Abbey at Kirklees. When the decision came to set up an Infirmary in Nottingham, the Abbess requested that Sister Magdalene take charge of the party of nuns who were going to run it. Magdalene, knowing that her skills and compassion could help immensely, accepted the position.
Anything else? She abhors everything that the Sheriff stands for (ie corruption), although she exercises the greatest diplomacy she can when she comes into contact with him. A case of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer!

Sample Role-Play (Show us what you've got!)
It was a windy day, the breeze blew through the narrow streets of Nottingham, bringing with it the stench of the middens outside the Town walls. Sister Magdalene paused on the doorstep of Priory House and drew her long woollen cloak closer around her. Shifting the basket of food into a more comfortable position on her arm, she stepped out onto the thoroughfare and wound her way carefully up the street, greeting the people she knew and acknowledging those who bowed their heads in reverence to her position.
Reaching her destination, Magdalene rapped her knuckles on the wooden door. From inside the decrepit house, the thin wailing of a sick child could barely be heard. The Sister had just raised her hand to knock again when there was the grating sound of a bar being pulled back and the door opened a crack. A tired and grimy face appeared in the narrow gap. Magdalene smiled encouragingly. "Good morrow, Anne. And how is the baby today?" Putting out her hand, Mags pushed the door open. She met very little resistance as Anne stepped back into the gloomy interior.
"She's a bit better, Sister." Anne volunteered, reaching inside the basket which served as a crib and picking up her child. Magdalene approached the mother and child, putting her basket on the table so she could examine the baby a bit better. "Hmm," Magdalene frowned. "You need to keep her as clean as possible. I know its difficult Anne, but if you want your baby to get better, you need to change her napkins regularly." She stroked the baby's cheek with her index finger and gave a small sigh before looking up at the child's mother. "I've brought some fresh bread for you and little Mary." The Sister added, taking some items from her basket and placing them on a wooden platter on the table. "I'll come back and see you and Mary again tomorrow." Anne followed the nun to the door, balancing her baby on her hip. "Thank you, Sister," Anne said quickly, her belly rumbled as she glanced quickly at the bread. Magdalene smiled secretly to herself, knowing that Anne would rip apart the small loaf as soon as she'd left.
Stepping out into the street, Sister Magdalene took a deep breath. Even the smell of the middens was better than the stenc of the hovel she'd just been in. Composing herself, she continued on her daily rounds.
