Tuck’s exact place of birth is unknown, but the Isle of Jersey is the most likely spot. He does know, because he was told as a young man that his parents had died and that he had been made the ward of a local churchman, the Abbot of Jersey.
He, from a young age, was educated in the church. He proved to be a quite intelligent young man, gobbling up all knowledge about religion. Although he could have easily developed a view that he was superior to others intellectually and because of his sponsor’s elevated position, he was taught that the common people were deserving of respect and reverence as well. The Abbot thought that if he had been a Caucasian native of Britain there was no telling how high that Tuck could have risen in the English church. However, his obvious African background would prove to be an impediment. Still, Tuck paid it no mind, not judging others for their background, nor expecting others to judge him in that way, and he enthusiastically pursued his religious education.
His education involved several trips to Rome, and he learned and discussed the writings and philosophies of many leading scholars, both Christian and not, including those of the Abbot of Kirklees in Nottinghamshire. Tuck found that he was mor attuned to service in the community than scholarship, and upon completion of his education he joined the group that would become a Friar in the Order of the Holy Trinity, which would become officially recognized by the Pope in 1198. From the very outset, a special dedication to the mystery of the Holy Trinity has been a constitutive element of the Order's life. The founding-intention for the Order was the ransom of Christians held captive by non-believers during the time of the Crusades.
As a member of this group he went off to serve in the Crusades. After many years of good service Tuck fell disillusioned with the work in the Holy Land, but not his education, he felt that his best use could be put in the service of the people back in England. As he travelled closer to Britain he heard more and more of the struggles of the common people, as well as the work being done by Robin Hood to help them in Nottinghamshire to help them, and he made his focus to be connecting with him, since he felt he was the people of England’s best hope.

Sample Role-Play (Show us what you've got!)
Tuck had had much time to think on his long trip back from the Holy Land, contemplating on what he had seen in his many years there, and how it was such a waste; all of the death and destruction. He had heard tales of all of the oppression that currently existed in Britain, as well as all of the efforts over the last several years by a mysterious figure named Robin Hood to fight those injustices. At times Tuck, in the beginning, had thought that Robin Hood wasn’t even real, that he was more legend than real. As time went on, and he heard more and more, Tuck decided that he must be real, but he wondered whether he more wedded to helping King Richard than the poor and downtrodden. In any case, Tuck felt that he was the people’s best hope and that he must find him. As the small boat deposited him on the southeastern shore of Britain and moved away, he whispered to himself, “England, at last! It has been too many years since I have been here. But my mission is not yet complete. I must find this Robin Hood and fid out what his real intentions for the people are. I must be able to harness his abilities in service of the people. He may be their last real hope, and that is my mission now.” And he started off for Nottingham shire.
