Allan nodded grimly. "Right then. Let's all just do our best not to die."
He jumped to the bottom of the steps, unwilling to try his luck on them again. None of the party were paticularly tall, at least while the man they'd rescued was slumped against the blonde woman so with a bit of luck and creative thinking they would be able to lose themselves in the crowd; the only soldiers that would trouble them would be those they actually crossed paths with.
He dodged between two burly men, stood gawking at the the scene unfolding in front of them, and stopped himself short as one straggling guard emerged from the milling throng of bodies. Allan feinted low with his right sword and struck high with his left; the end of the blade biting hard into the upper arm of the guard. Bit over the top really, Robin wouldn't have approved of his heavy-handedness but he had two civilians to defend and from the sounds of it their leader was out of the picture anyway. He wasn't taking any chances.

Eve followed Allan down, but had to take her time with the stairs and Adam. She walked quickly, keeping an eyes out for anything, but thankfully their way seemed pretty clear. She felt awkward and unhelpful while burdened with Adam, but knew she was an extra pair of eyes for the outlaws. There was a weedy-looking guard coming up on her left and although he didn't look strong, he was fast. "Left!" She yelled at Allan, but didn't know there was enough time, so she stuck out her foot and gave him a well-placed kick to the front of his right knee. She winced at the cracking sound, but hurried on, desperate to get Adam out of here.

Allan looked immediately to his left and saw the blonde lash out with her foot and catch the rapidly approaching guard hard, giving him at least enough time to collect himself and defend them.
Swinging his left arm up almost instinctively his blade whistled past the soldier's nose. Damn it, he thought, annoyed at the mistimed stroke and swung his right hand fast and low. The tip of the other blade stuck into the assailant's belly and he winced. Didn't look like that one was gonna get back up again. Still, right now he had four people to keep alive; one life for four wasn't too awful a trade.
He pressed on towards the edge of the crowd, the twisting alleyways of Nottingham beckoning. There was more space to move now, but it meant that lines of sight were clearer too; he could see at least two helmeted heads swivelling in their direction. He kept his head down and strove forward; perhaps they wouldn't be spotted.
