Devon rubbed her eyes and tore the scarf off of her head revealing short brown, almost black hair. From a distance she would have looked like a boy, given her hair and weight. Though she was twenty-five, her life of traveling had kept her slim. She looked at the green canopy of leaves above her head and sighed. "A new life," she muttered to the silence. Well, almost silence. Voices filtered through the branches, catching her attention. She ran silently to the sound and pressed herself against the ground, looking down on the well hidden camp. She thought about the amount of money that could be there, not to mention blankets, other valuables and, most importantly, food. Her mouth watered at the thought of chicken or mutton or venison. She could see at least two heads, but suspected there were more. She stood and walked away a few yards, a plan coming to her mind quickly. Devon set up a small fire using a flint from her bag. While it got started, she sorted through her belongings. One extra tunic, a bag of coins (stolen, of course), leftover bread and two scarves. She grinned and threw one of the scarves into the fire with the bread and the bag of money once she had stowed the coins elsewhere. Tying the scarf over her hair again, she watched the fire build then yelled. "HELP! Please, someone! Help!" she waited until she heard footsteps then took off to the camp she'd seen before.

Allan looked around. "Is that someone outside? Seriously, does the whole of Nottingham know where to find us?"
He stuck his head out of the concealed entrance, but saw nothing. Except...
A thin curl of smoke was rising up into the air. He ran towards it, but not before checking his sword was ready for the draw.

Much sat lazily on his bed, fiddling absentmindedly with the Gang Necklace he had fastened safely around his neck.
At the sound of a screaming voice, he sat upright, giving Allan a confused look. Allan was already on the move, and Much quickly leapt up in hot pursuit, grabbing his sword as he went. As he poked his head outside the entrance of the camp, he frowned. "What the..." he started, before moving closer towards the plume of smoke. "Did I hear a voice, or was it just me?" Much asked Allan confusedly. Perhaps he was going mad.

"You heard it alright," Allan answered, "but I can't see nothing. Stay alert. There's a fire, but I don't think it can spread that fast right now, it's not that dry.

Little John stood behind Allan and Much, looking over them to look at the fire, holding his staff at the ready. "I think I heard a voice," Little John replied, frowning in thought. Maybe they should help to put out the fire. But where would they get the water from near here? "Maybe we should find out, in case someone is in danger?"

Devon watched as three men ran past to the fire. Better make this quick, she thought. Grabbing her bag she ran in the direction they came from, taking in her surroundings as quickly as she could. She came to a clearing at the bottom of a hill, but saw nothing else. She took a deep breath and looked around for something. She searched the ground for any fallen things and actually found a dagger under some leaves. Shrugging, she tucked it into her belt and looked again. The side if the hill was covered in leaves, which was strange since the tress surrounding the area were full and lush. Devon crawled against the side of the hill and something caught her eyes. "Yes," she whispered.

Allan checked himself suddenly. What was he doing? Running towards a fire with no means of putting it out when there were waterskins right back at the camp. He motioned to the other two to carry on ahead and turned on his heels, sprinting back the way he'd came.

Devon was just reaching to touch the glint that had caught her eyes when she heard footsteps approaching. Bolting up, she ran right into the man. You've got to help me! My things! I was just trying to warm myself and..and..." Devon broke down into hysterics, holding the man's arm. Those are half my belongings!" Her chest heaved as she tried to control her breathing. "You've-you've got to help. Please. I got nothing else. I was coming to find my father." She lied. She looked up at him with tears in her eyes. "Please?"

Allan blinked once or twice, and tried to make sense of what the young...yeah, it was a girl, although if it wasn't for Djaq's initial charade, he might not have spotted it..was saying.
"You what?" he asked, cocking his head on one side; "your belongings? Your dad? Slow down, cos I ain't got no clue what you're on about."

Devon sniffed, her chest heaving and as she was calming herself, she surveyed the area. There was a nice path to her right that could be used for a quick escape. She could also run back to the fire, though there might be people there. She sniffed again at looked at he man in front of her. He had a sword and at least one dagger, not to mention he probably had backup. Her little dagger wasn't going to help her. She'd wait and see how long she could keep her charade before fighting him. Giving a small cough, she said, "I've been traveling from York and I-I was just trying to warm myself, maybe set up camp. But I th-thought I heard something behind me...and, and I turned to see who was there and I guess my foot hit my things." She began crying again, fighting through her words. "Those are half my things. I don't have any money. I panicked and yelled for help. I-I just came down here to find water. What am I going to do?" she asked, pulling the scarf off her head to wipe her tears. While she was wiping, she glared at the man. This is going to take all day, she thought. She saw him watching her and gave another sniff for good measure.

Much tutted and slowly trudged after Allan as he made his way back to camp. He was right, there would be enough water there.
But he stopped suddenly in his tracks as he saw a young boy in front of him. He was a few metres away from Allan, and waited, watching what was going on. The boy seemed to be in some sort of distress. Much narrowed his eyes and scratched his beard, as he turned around to check John was still behind him. "Whats going on here?" he whispered to him comrade, cocking his head over to the direction of Allan. He peered back over at them, contemplating whether to join in with the discussion.
After a few minutes of careful listening, Much came forewards, and slid down the small mound seperating him from Allan. A few leaves flew at his feet, and he jogged over, his sword clanging against his hip. He came to an abrupt stop beside Allan, and then gave him an inquizitive look. He looked back over to the boy. Or was it a boy? Much was confused.

Devon gave a little scream when another man came down, clutching the scarf to her chest. Great. Another one. And he was armed. Devon scolded herself for her foolishness. She'd need a weapon pretty soon. Or was she. The new man was looking down at her with an inquiring look and she wondered if she could get him to feel sorry for her, since the first guy wasn't helping at all. "My things are burning. All I have left is a tunic. That was my food, my money." She sighed and looked over their shoulders to where the fire was. "I don't know where I am and I have no food, no money." She lowered her head. "I'm just trying to find someone. Is that such a crime?" She looked up at the new man, her eyes wide and sad.

Much gulped, still confused at the gender of this person. His thoughts now wavered towards girl, but he still wasn't sure. "Um.." he said, confused. But she seemed upsett. And she said that her possessions had been ruined in a fire. She had no money? Well that was what the outlaws were for. Helping people. He nodded, and then gave her a comforting smile. "We can um...get you some food and water." he said, glancing over at Allan for his approval.
"Where are you from? What's your name?" he asked the girl, his eyes still filled with sympathy.

Devon smiled tearfully at the man. "Thank you," she whispered. Now, if she could just get him to open up the camp. That is, if there was a camp. She was starting to doubt that fact, though. "M-my name's-" she stopped, gulping to cover her sudden halt. Name? "Devon," she said. It's not like she ever planned on seeing these guys again after she got what she wanted. "I'm from York. I've come to find someone. I was just trying to rest, to warm up and, well, I guess you know the rest." Devon sighed. She looked up at the red-head and bit her lip. "You wouldn't happen to have any food, do you? That bread was my last piece."

Little John sighed as he was left all alone by the other two. The fire seemed to have put itself out, which was odd in itself. He slowly walked over to ashes and frowned. This fire had been set up. It wasn't natural. He frowned even more and started to walk back towards he camp. He stood at the top and saw the other two talking with someone else.
Little John slowly crept down the hill, holding onto his staff and stood behind the other two boys. He leaned towards Much and whispered in his ear. "That fire was set up, I feel," he whispered, before looking at the girl. "And you are who?"
