The Night Watchman Hanged?

[Marian]

Peasants were gathered around somberly, having been told that The Night Watchman, who'd helped them so many times, was to be hanged - but they did not yet know her identity.

She looked at Guy once more as he led her out to the gallows, and she couldn't believe this was how she was to end her life - hanged for trying to help desperate people, without even the one she loved anywhere near.

[Sir Guy]

Guy smirked as he pulled her along gently, wondering if he should really go through with this. He looked at Marian and then looked carefully at Alan.

He heard the sheriff cry to the crowd about the Nightwatchman being no more before telling me to bring her/him. "He is ready my lord," he smirked and stopped near the entrance.

Up above Alan was standing in one of the towers in some brown clothes and the nightwatchmans mask. He shot several thin arrows around and cut the noose. The villagers looked up in amazment yet surprising look, wondering how he could escape from the many guards, including Sir Guy himself. Guy looked surprised and shouted at the guards to chase him and they scurried off.

He went over to the sheriff who started shouting at him as Guy pretended he had no clue of what had just happened. He suddenly recieved a slap around the fase, making him turn to face Marian with a red mark. Surely he shouldnt have deserved that but he still had feelings for Marian and he just couldnt stand back and watch her die. The sheriff walked off outraged as Guy sat down, just spotting the Nightwatchman, who was alan, hide in the well as the guards ran past.

He looked up at Marian, hoping she would say something instead of just looking blankly at him, he knew he had done wrong and wanted her to say at least thanks for taking a slap instead of herself dying.

[Marian]

Marian had a look of acceptance on her face; she had accepted what this was going to happen, and her was clouded with an unemotional, detatched look. She carefully avoided Guy's gaze, for she would spend her last moments with dignity, not pleading for her life.

She heard his voice but didn't move; the Sheriff clearly thought she was here to watch the hanging - not the one waiting to be hanged. At the surprised shouts, however, her head turned quickly - and there, running away from the scene was...The Night Watchman! Well, it couldn't be the actual Night Watchman, although only Marian and Guy knew that, but it was certainly someone dressed in the Night Watchman's clothes.

Confused, she looked to Guy - who was being shouted at and slapped for letting the Night Watchman escape. The blank look disappeared and as The Sheriff left, she ran over to Guy. "Did you...was that..." She asked, unable to finish her sentences from surprise and shock.

[Allan A Dale]

((Oi i am actually here ya know...))

Allan was sweating under the outfit he had donned for this clever ruse, he shot the arrow into the gallows and turned and ran, if he was caught then Marian would hang, his fear for his friend's life leant him speed.

He jumped into a well, hanging from the edge of it he heard the guards run by just a second after him, his heart was racing as he realised how close he had been to being found out. Allan waited for it to quiet down then he pulled himself up slightly and looked around, the coast was clear, as he pulled himself out of the well he pulled of the mask.

Allan quickly shed the night watchmens outfit and stealthily slipped back into the castle, he waited in the darkness for Guy and Marian.

[Sir Guy]

Guy sighed and grabbed Marians hand, not wanting to talk where someone was likely to listen. He dragged her to the shadows at the edge of the castle grounds where Alan waited.

"Yes Marian," was all he said as he looked at her and then to Alan

[Marian]

She smiled softly, still in shock. She didn't understand; after all he'd said, and after she'd betrayed him, he'd still saved her life? And who was it in the Night Watchman's clothes? She knew he'd have this over her for ever now, and could use it to threaten her with at any time - but she didn't care. She was alive!

She wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him, smiling. As she let go, she began to speak softly, so no-one else could hear. "Thank You, Guy...Thank You..." She paused, looking around. "Who was it - in the clothes?" She questioned, thinking that it was probably Allan.

((Sorry Allan - as the storyline began before you came to the site, we were just continuing with how we had been playing it, not meaning to Godmode!))

[Sir Guy]

He was taken back when she hugged him and felt himself relax as he let her, patting her back. He smiled and looked over at Alan
"Alan did it, who else would of?"

[Marian]

She smiled, as she saw Allan. "Allan..." She wrapped her arms around his neck too, giving him a hug. "Thank-you. Both of you...thanks." They'd saved her life - and whatever she thought of them usually, she couldn't help but feel grateful.

"Thank-you." She repeated again, "And I promise..." She paused, knowing she would have to stick to this one, "No more Night Watchman." She kissed Guy softly on the cheek, and grinned. "You saved my life...thank you." She didn't seem to be able to stop saying thank-you - she was still in shock!

[Sir Guy]

He touched her hand softly as Guy felt Marian kiss her cheek. "if i ever see the nightwatchman again Marian..." he didnt need to warn her, shee knew what would happen.

[Marian]

She looked to the ground, solemnly. "I know, Guy. You have my word; the Night Watchman's gone, I promise." She sighed, as she looked to Guy and Allan with a soft, tired smile. It had been a stressful day!

"May I retire to my room?" She asked, "I'm exhausted." She planned to go and sleep - she'd had a sleepless night previously, and the day had shaken her up quite a bit. Her face was quite pale, as though the stress had gotten to her quite a bit; but she would be ok. She just needed to rest, and forget that today had ever happened.

[Sir Guy]

He smirked and nodded, hoping she would think about what Guy had done for her. "Sure," was all he could say, nervous at the thought she would continue.
