The year is 1198 and the deeds of Robin Hood and his merrymen are spreading like wildfire across England. In their own time they have already become folk heroes in the farthest reaches of England; symbols of hope, compassion, and ingenuity. While Robin and his gang work to free Nottingham from the tyranny of Sheriff Vaisey, other forces are at work both for the good and bad of the people of Nottinghamshire.
As Robin and his merrymen fight the good fight, the spirited Marian Fitzwalter makes a vow to leave the of Nottingham castle and to devote her life to the people upon the death of her father. When the unimaginable happens, Marian leaves nothing behind but a tearstained and cryptic note stating her desire to live a life devoted to God in an unnamed convent. Sheriff Vaisey, never one to be outmaneuvered and unable to learn her actual whereabouts, immediately names her an outlaw for her previous sympathies with the one time Lord of Locksley.
Determined to join Robin once and for all in Sherwood Forest and to aid his gang with her unique set of skills, Marian finds herself in a dangerous situation when she comes upon a young woman being attacked in the woods. Crying for help, Marian, already dressed in Nightwatchman garb, steps in, saving the young woman's life. Vowing to return the favor, the woman promises to follow the mysterious figure wherever they go till the favor may be returned in full.
The events that followed lead to a major split in the forces for good. Reunited with Robin and his gang in Sherwood Forest, Marian, still in grief over her father's sudden death, explained her situation to Robin. Determined to keep her safe at all costs, a disagreement arose between the free-spirited woman and the protective man from Locksley. Believing she could accomplish great things on her own, as she had under the guise of the Nightwatchman, Marian and her new companion took leave of Robin and his gang and made their way to the camp of the Forestwife. Under the safety of the kindly woman and her family, Marian began to gather a new set of friends and allies until they was ready to leave the clearing for a camp of their own.
While Robin and Marian’s gangs aid the people of Nottingham, however, evil is afoot. The Sheriff’s spies are everywhere and in every position of society, from the lowest swineherd to the richest noble. Determined to obtain every last coin from the people of Nottingham, the Sheriff has redoubled his efforts to have the head of anyone openly opposing him. In secret, he has formed his own close-knit group of men, whom he has charged with the task of quelling any and all operations undertaken by Robin and Marian's gangs to help the people. As tensions mount higher, it is becoming increasingly difficult to aid the burden of the poorer residents of Nottingham.
The echos of every choice made for the good or evil of Nottingham will be be remembered for centuries. Will you fight for the people, your own power, or the establishment?
